New Mechanics

This page is where I’ll be giving info on all the new mechanics introduced in Fakemon Shadow and Fakemon Light.

New Types

In the Reia Region, two new types are introduced. See the New Types page for details.

Sky Routes

The Reia Region is made up of 2 different land masses. This means that it will require some surfing to get around. However, there is a more attractive way – Sky Routes! There is only one sky route in the game so far, but I should get more ideas soon! The idea is that you can find a Sky Elevator, which takes you up to the clouds. You then get on a Pokemon that can learn Fly (It does NOT have to know Fly), and traverse the sky! Only Sky Trainers battle on these routes, and you can only use Pokemon that can fly, just as in regular Sky Battles. There are random encounters, if you go into puffy clouds that hide Pokemon. These clouds are not limited to Flying-types. Any Pokemon that is known to be able to fly or levitate may appear. (However, not ALL of them will as there is only one Sky Route.) For instance, Golurk could appear, or Venomoth.

Diving Battles

As I previously mentioned, there is surfing in the Reia Region. However, there is a new method of battling introduced – Dive Battles! Yes, you can encounter Pokemon in Dive areas, but no Trainers . . . until now. Dive Trainers wear scuba suits as their outfit, and only use Pokemon that are known to be able to swim or dive. You can also only use Pokemon like this in Dive Battles. In the overworld, Dive Trainers are shown as being mostly submerged, with only their head showing.

Meteor Showers

Meteor Showers are a new weather condition in Fakemon Shadow & Light. It powers up Psychic-type moves, and powers down Dark-type moves. Also, a meteor may occasionally strike any Pokemon on the field, at any time before one Trainer’s turn. It will act as if the Pokemon has been struck by a Psychic-type move with 50 power. This condition can be brought on with the Psychic-type move Meteor Blaster, or the Ability Space Shower. Meteor Showers are present automatically on Route 18, and have a 1 in 150 chance of naturally appearing on any Route.
